Extensive experience in shipping semen from Carol Rose Quarter Horses has resulted in the following guide. Please review these items, and if you have additional questions, feel free to contact us.
- The stallion fee and shipment fee must be pre-paid prior to any semen shipment. There will be no exceptions.
- Because the $350 charge applies EACH time the semen is shipped, it is imperative that your veterinarian be aware of your mare’s current breeding status and is confident that she is in fact ready to be bred. It is the stated preference of Carol Rose Quarter Horses that all semen shipments be made to, and inseminations performed at, pre-approved established breeding farms or equine veterinary clinics.
- Per the contract, 18 hour advance notice is required when requesting a semen shipment. Cancellation requests must be made by 8:00 A.M on the shipping day. Central Time, Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays included.
- A contract for cooled semen does not guarantee that semen will be available on the day you request. Cooled semen shipments are taken on a first come-first serve basis and mares on the premises of Carol Rose Quarter Horses have a breeding priority on any given breeding day.
- Semen may only be requested on regularly scheduled breeding days at Carol Rose Quarter Horses (breeding days are every other day, including Saturday and Sunday). Contact the ranch for specific breeding days for a given month (odd or even days). Semen will not be collected from stallions on a non-breeding day.
- Cooled Semen bookings will be, by necessity, of limited availability on those stallions whose books may be filled with mares to be bred on the premises of Carol Rose Quarter Horses.
- Have your veterinarian contact Carol Rose Quarter Horses at least 2 days PRIOR to when he believes he will need semen for your mare. This will help us to plan for your potential need for semen.
- Return Equitainer using pre-printed pre-paid FedEx label to be included with shipment. Coolant cans ballast bags, and isothermolyzer must be returned in container. The pink copy of the insemination certificate should be returned (in plastic bag) in Equitainer. Mail white copy of certificate to the office of the AQHA.
- Please refer to the Shipped Semen Contract for all other requirements.
Good communication among all parties is vital to the success of
cooled semen shipment and insemination.
